Fall 2016 #22
When they calculate equity in the examiner report, they take year-end 2016 equity and work backwards to 2015 equity using 2015 net income, OCI, and dividends. I thought we normally take:
equity (t) = equity (t-1) + { NI + OCI - dividends}(t)?
Is this an error in the examiner report, or am I misunderstanding?

I am not sure if I am misreading something but isn't that what was done in the examiner's report? We take 2014 equity and add NI and OCI in 2015 and subtract the dividends
oh, the Excel version of F2016 I have downloaded is incorrectly labeled; the given data was labelled as 2015 and 2016 instead of 2015 and 2014. Thanks!
