Time Horizons

I know the table is from the IAA reading, but feels like the long term time horizon would be more correct if it said "scenario testing under different climate pathways and scenarios". This way it would align with our understanding of Sensitivity test vs Scenario test as well

Comments

  • Just to clarify for everyone reading, scenario testing and sensitivity testing are two different things.

    • Scenario testing checks what happens to results when you test a full story or situation with several changes at once.
    • Sensitivity testing looks at how the results change when you adjust one input at a time to see which ones matter most.

In this case, it's hard to know exactly what they mean when they wrote this. I interpreted this that within several scenarios (aka scenario testing), sensitivity testing is to be performed on some of the inputs of that scenario. So if 3 climate scenarios exist, maybe 10 sensitivity tests are performed under each, resulting in 30 sensitivity tests total.

It could also be interpreted as sensitivity testing the scenario, which would mean changing the scenario inputted into the model, which is just scenario testing.
