Cat risk management

@graham
You mentioned this portion is an overlap to OSFI.eqk. Do you refer to the 5 general risk management principles? If yes, I relate them as follow:
Cat modeling->Model
Data quality->Data management
Aggregate loss exposure->PML management
Monitoring->Risk management? Not sure about this one

Can we put the 5 earthquake RM principles for a BCAR.cat question then?

Thanks,
Tony

  • I think what you wrote it accurate. BCAR.Cat and earthquake risk management might not be exactly the same, but pretty close.

    I think if you realize that an exam question is referring to the BCAR.Cat reading, you might get away with putting the earthquake RM principles. To be safe however, it might be better to state the list from the BCAR.Cat reading. I don't know how strict the graders will be. I realize that means you have to memorize 2 lists instead of 1 so if you don't have time to do that, you're probably ok putting the earthquake principles.
