Time
- Thursday, Feb 3, 2022 - 7:00PM EST
Participants
- Xuan Qin
- Vanessa Zhang
- Graham Gersdorff
Agenda
- Introductions
- Review the wiki article Practice Exams - 6C
- Overview of the practice exam structure v02. (Graham will share his screen.)
- Preliminary assignments:
- Xuan:
- Create scenarios for PE1 #12 parts (a) & (b) on Landmark Legal Cases
- See prior CAS exam problems for guidance. (The source text is not helpful and available only in printed from in the study kit from the CAS anyway. Googling the cases is far more helpful.)
- The answer (precedent) for part (a) should be Glynn v Scottish Union
- The answer (precedent) for part (b) should be Sansalone v Wawanesa
- I chose these cases because they are often asked so the students should definitely know them.
- Your scenarios should be straightforward (no tricks) but try to make the them interesting and a little different compared to past exams.
- Vanessa:
- Create scenarios for PE1 #26 part (b.i) & (b.ii) on Subsequent Events
- See prior CAS exam problems for guidance and the source text for guidance. (The source text has 8 good examples.)
- The scenario for part (b.i) should be for a late-reported catastrophe.
- The scenario for part (b.ii) should be for a reinsurer failure.
- The answer (precedent) for part (b) should be Sansalone v Wawanesa
- Again, you can see from the BattleTable for that wiki article that these scenarios are frequently asked so the students should definitely know them.
- Your scenarios should be straightforward (no tricks) but try to make the them interesting and a little different compared to past exams. (For example, change the ice-storm to a hurricane and changes the dates.)
